The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel have shown time and time again that they respect not only their duties but also enjoy while guard the country’s borders resistant to extreme weather conditions.
This time around, the ITBP wowed netizens with its ice wall climbing competition in bitter cold in Ladakh. It was the first time an ice wall climbing competition was held in the country, ITBP said.
In a video, Ladakh Governor Radha Krisha Mathur addresses those gathered. Mathur is heard saying, “IG Sir has come up with a new initiative. I want to congratulate him for introducing this ice climbing activity. As we all know, the ITBP was formed in 1962. Since 1962, they have been engaged in the duty of serving the nation at the frontiers.

More than 100 climbers took part in the competition organized jointly by North-West Frontier, ITBP, Leh and the Association of Mountaineering Guides of Ladakh. It was held under the leadership of Inspector General Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo.

Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP for Ladakh, was also present at the closing ceremony of the event on February 27. Namgyal congratulated the winners and commended the efforts of the ITBP. NW Frontier ITBP won the overall championship.

The ITBP also retweeted a video of its staff playing volleyball at 15,000ft at a border outpost in Uttarakhand.
