When you hear the word vacation, scenes of relaxation and fruity drinks probably come to mind. But for Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ first trip as Empty Nests, they decided to change. The pair headed west towards Utah and Colorado, Ripa recently explained on Live with Kelly and Ryanand because they are always up for a challenge, they decided to try their hand at natural climbing.
Ripa shared a photo from their excursion on Instagram, captioning it: “Couples therapy 🧗♀️🧗♂️.” Consuelos hovered above Ripa on the wall, and both used their hands and feet to cross. Needless to say, his followers were impressed with their ambition, and they couldn’t help but notice their, uh, impressive form.
“Holy shit! Im impressed! 👏👏👏,” one person commented. “These Gams!!!🔥🔥🔥,” added another. “Those who survive together thrive together. And then there’s the climbing…,” Ripa’s trainer Anna Kaiser wrote.
Ripa and Consuelos take exercise seriously and according to Kaiser, Ripa’s consistency in the gym is what keeps her strong. The couple have worked together for 12 years, and on June 21, the fitness instructor and studio owner dedicated an Instagram to Ripa, praising her for her hard work.
“12 years, 2 kids, 5 studios and over 100+ dances later…we always bring the 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Kelly trains with me and my team @annakaiserstudios 4-5 days a week and she NEVER CANCEL! !!” Kaiser wrote. “Look, if I can share one secret with you, it’s IT. Show up for you. Show up for your coach. Show up because you both deserve magic to happen together. is exactly what you are, @kellyripa MAGIC✨ And the strongest fucking woman I’ve ever known!!!!
Ripa explained on Live that the recent vacation marked his first vacation with Consuelos in 25 years without their three children, Michael, 25, Joaquin, 19, and Lola, 21. In addition to climbing, they hiked and eventually took time off to relax and recuperate.
“Turns out we had the time of our lives. There was work involved in this trip, but that’s not what we were doing,” she said. “We went to the Amangiri [resort], Utah. It’s luxury. It’s like the kind of trip we would do without kids.
On her Instagram Story, Ripa shared additional photos from their hiking adventures, and on Liveshe admitted they got lost…once. “We got lost in Colorado, which was amazing because that’s the discussion we always have: How long will it take Mark to eat me? Ripa joked. She explained that they wandered around for 45 minutes before noticing her husband was hungry.
“I said, ‘We agreed that I had to die of natural causes before you could tap into me as a food source. We talked about it many times because we’ve already talked about how I won’t eat it because I have a hard time eating chicken on the bone, let alone my wife,” Ripa recalls. “He, on the other hand, is like, ‘I can eat you in 3 seconds, no problem.’ But I wasn’t dead yet!
Luckily, the couple found their way out before there were any casualties…or cannibalism.
