ROUTINE? WE HAVE SUGGESTIONS. ERICA: HELLO EVERYBODY. I HAVE AN AFTERNOON TO ME, AND I’M IN THE MOOD FOR A LITTLE ADVENTURE. THERE IS LOTS TO DO IN BOSTON AND BEYOND, BUT TODAY I DECIDED TO STAY CLOSE TO THE CITY AND TRY ONE OF THE NEW OLYMPIC SPORTS, TRAIN LIKE AN OLYMPIAN AND TRY INDO ROCK CLIMBING. LET’S SEE HOW I DO. RKOC INDOOR CLIMBING IS AN ADVENTURE OFF THE WALL REQUIRING SRPHA STRENGTH, ENDURANCE AND MENTAL FOCUS. >> IT’S A PUZZLE. THIS IS THE FUN PART OF CLIMBING. >> INTEREST REACHES NEW HEIGHTS AFTER CLIMBING MAKES ITS OLYMPIC DEBUT AT THE TOO.KY SUMMER GAMES IN THE SOUTH, NO OLYMPIC PRESSURE, IT’S A CHALLENGE NEVER. >> YOU DON’T NEED TO BE SUPER STRONG OR FEEL LIKE YOU’VE ALREADY TRAINED A READY TO GO BEFORE YOU GOT HERE. STJU COME ONN. IF YOU THINK IT COULD BE FUN OR WOULD LIKE TO TRY CLIMBING, YOU’RE ALREADY THE RIGHT KIND OF PERSON TO TRY IT. >> KSEEL IYSHONG ME THE STRINGS. MY FIRST CHALLENGE, CLIMBING THE BLUE WAY ON THIS VERY HIGH WALL, AN INTERMEDIATE CLIMB. OK. WE WILL TRY IT. >> JUST ANY BLUE. YOU WANT TO PUSH WITH YOUR FEET. YOUR LEGS ARE THE POWERHOUSE OF YOUR BODY AND USE THIS POWER TO MOVE ON THE WALL. IT’S ABOUT YOUR LEGS BUT ALSO YOUR FOOTWORK. DON’T BE AFRAID TO STEP ON ANYTHING SMALL AND TRUST YOUR BODY THAT IT WILL STAY ON THE WALL. WE PUT YOU ON A CHALLENGE AND YOU’LL DO GREAT. >> I’M DEFINITELY WORKING. I REALLY WANT TO WALK ON THIS YELLOW THING. >> YOU HAVE THIS. YOU ARE SO CLOSE. A FEW MORE MOVEMENTS, REALLY, AND YOU’RE ON TOP. >> NOT EASY BUT. NOT EASY. I THOUGHT I HAS TAKEN THE CHALLENGE BECAUSE I REACHED THE SUMMIT, BUT APPEARENTLY IT’S NOT OVER YET. I AM SUPPOSED TO GO THROUGH THIS WALL, BUT I CAN USE ANY ENTIRE – I CAN USE ANY GRIP, THEN UP SOME MONKEY BARS AND ANOTHER WALL, THEN I GET THE GOLD STAR. TRAVERSING GOES ON THE SIDE, ALSO KNOWN AS BOULDERING. >> YOUR BRAIN THINKED A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE IT’S NOT WHAT CAN I GET NEXT BUT WHO CAN I MOVE TO THE SIDE? GOOD WORK. >> THE NEXT OBSTACLE, MY NEMESIS, MONKEY BARS. >> I DON’T THINK I GOT IT. MY HANDS ARE SWEAT. OK. HANDS ARE SWEAT. .NO I FELL. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM CHALK, I’M BACK AND DETERMINED. I RECOVERED ON THE LAST CLIMB AND THE BIG ARRIVAL. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN BOSTON AND JAN, BUT I STAY IN THE HEART OF THE CITY TO GO STDAN UP PADDLE BOARD. WE ARE HERE ON THE CHARLES. CAN’T WAIT TO TAKE THE VIEWS. COME WITH ME. THIS MILLION DOLLAR VIEW IS THE BACKGROUND TO MY AFTERNOON ADVENTURE ON THE CHARLES. >> YOU GO RIGHT TO THE CANAL AND YOU GET VIEWS OF BEACON HILL, THE BRIDGE, CHARLESTOWN, BACK BAY, T JUST A FANTASTIC VIEW. >> PADDLE BOSTON OFFERS CANOE, KAYAK AND PADDLEBOARD RENTALS ALONG THE RIVER FROM A LAUNCH SITE IN KENDALL UASQRE. GENERAL MANAGER MARK JACOBSON IS MY INSTRUCTOR. >> THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT AND WINDY SPOTS TO TRY PADDLE BOARDING. >> SAFETY IS IMPORTANT WITH ANY WATER SPORT. FORTUNELYAT TODAY SAYS CONDITIONS ARE GOOD. DO I REALLY NEED THIS? HOW OFTEN DOES SOMEONE FALL? >> IF SOMEONE COME BACK AND SAID THEY FALLEN, WE ARE NOT SURPRISED, BUT THIS IS NOT COMMON. >> YOU DO NOT OFTEN SEE PEOPLE SWIMMING IN THE CHARLES RIVER. WILL YOU FALL? >> CHARLES RIVER HAS BEEN STTEG WATER QUALITY FOR MANY YEARS HERE. THEY HAVE A VERY GOOD PREDICTIVE MODE BL,UT MOST OF THE TIME THE WATER QUALITY HERE IS VERY GOOD.OD VERY CONSISTENT WITH SWIMMING AND BOATING STANDARDS. >> BEFORE WE START OUR JOURNEY, PADDLE BOARD 101. >> WE WILL ATTACH THIS TO YOUR LEG. THIS IS THE REALLY IMPORTANT SAFETY PT.AR, UNLIKE A CANOE OR KAYAK, IF YOU FLIP UP YOU DON’T SEPARATE QUICKLY, BUT IF YOU’RE ON A BOARD IT GOES AWAY AND YOU DON’T WANT YOU SEPARATE FROM YOUR BOARD. >> I WILL PUT THIS O. I’M QUITE CONFIDENT, HOWEVER. FULL DISCLOSURE, I HAVE PADDLEBOARDED BEFORE, BUT WHEN I HAVE BEEN WET AT THE BEACH. TRY NOT TO GET WET TODAY. OWSL AND STEADY AS I RIDE ON OCCASION. LET’S GO. DESPITE A FEW EARLY OBSTACLES, I’M ALWAYS DRY. WE ARE PADDLING UNDER A HIGHWAY. SAIL SMOOTHLY AFTER THAT. MAGNIFICENT. DESPITE THE PHYSICAL CHALLENGE OF THIS ADVENTURE — >> I THINK I USE I — MY ARMS A LITTLE TOO MUCH. BUT DOG INOK. MARK SAYS I’M SUPPOSED TO USE MY HIPS. IT IS PEACEFUL. >> YOU SEE EVERYTHING ON GNGOI, BUT IT’S QUIET ON THE WATER. IT IS THAT SENSE. RELAX, THE WATER LAPING AGAINST THE BOATS. >> AND I DIDN’T FALL. >> SHE LOOKS LIKE A PRO. PADDLE BOSTON IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON, BUT THEY WILL START AGAIN IN THE SPRING. I HAVE SEVEN SITES IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA. — THEY HAVE SEVEN LOCATIONS IN GREATER BOSTON AA.RE >> THEY SAY THERE IS A BIG SENSOFE OMMUNITY, AND LOTS OF PEOPLE CHEERS, AND THEY
