Smith Rocks, Oregon - The birthplace of American sport climbing, Smith still rocks. Pockets and edges abound on all sorts of angles. Mostly sport, with definite trad options as well. The nearby gorge offers basaltic columns with wild stemming between columns, and balance problems up arÍtes.
Index, Washington - The granite training ground for Washington based climbers, there are crack climbs up to five pitches tall. Mostly trad, with some sport, and ample opportunity for artificial climbing.
