Ice Climbing

The Sierra Nevada range of California offers a wealth of stunning peaks to tempt both technical climbers and peak baggers. Thirteen peaks rise to over 14'000 feet, with Mt Whitney(14,495') being the highest peak in the continental United States. The views from the summits of these peaks can be life changing. It is no wonder that famed naturalist John Muir coined these peaks "the Range of Light". Most technical routes follow either continous crack systems or elegant aretes. Class 4, or "walk up" routes, exists on some of the highest peaks, Mt Whitney included.

Clients can choose from multiple routes on each peak to accommodate their abilities. A typical trip last four to five days, allowing for some acclimatizing to the altitude, and with multiple objectives available…say the East Buttress of Mt Whitney(VI 5.6) and the Fishhook Arete on Mt Russell(II 5.8). Some trips are possible in a single day by hardy individuals. All trips are catered with delicious, healthy food, your beverages of choice, and an enthusiastic smile.

Available peaks - Although we are willing to guide any legal* peak in California, the following sample gives an idea of some ultra classic peaks and climbs. *Some peaks are closed due to bighorn sheep for example.
